We are delighted to announce the long-awaited return of classes at Kathy’s Knits!
We will be running a 4-week Learn to Knit course in November and December, with tutor Jane McConnell. In this course, you will make a pair of fingerless mitts and learn all the basics including casting on, knitting, purling, making stripes, casting off and finishing.
Note: this class is now fully booked, but please check back for more classes in the future!
Learn to Knit Socks – June 2026
We’ll be running a new 4-week Learn to Knit Socks course, beginning on Tues 2nd June!
This course is designed for knitters who can knit and purl, and ideally also have a little familiarity with knitting in the round.
We’ll knit a pair of adult socks together in the traditional top-down method with heel flap and grafted toe. Along the way, we’ll learn about alternative construction techniques, different styles of heels and toes, and how to adjust your socks for a perfect fit. We’ll also talk about adding patterning to socks (lace, cables, colour), and how that changes the fit.
Learn to Knit course – Mar 2026
We’ll be running another 4-week Learn to Knit course beginning on Mar 31st (every Tues evening until 21st Apr).

We’re delighted to now be stocking a selection of Emma Ball products – different sized project bags (including a nifty wrist bag, perfect for knitting-on-the-go), sliding notion tins with stitch markers inside, and tape measures!
Featuring cosy sheep in sweaters, and puffins too…
