Learn to Knit - 4 Week Course - March - April 2017 ** CLASS FULL**

Learn to knit - 4 week course

This series of four, two-hour classes is designed for those who are completely new to knitting as well as those returning to the craft and who want to re-familiarise themselves with the basics.

During our time together, we'll cover the techniques needed to complete your own beautiful blanket or cushion cover.

We’ll learn how to cast on and off, knit and purl, change colour and stitch pattern, and seamlessly join together our panels (using mattress stitch).

The cost includes all materials (yarn, needles and project bag), your pattern, notes and tuition - so you just need to bring yourself!

Indie Burgh Yarn Crawl

Indi Burgh Yarn Crawl

Following the success of this event over the last two years, three Edinburgh yarn stores, Ginger Twist Studio, Be Inspired Fibres and Kathy’s Knits, have decided to hold the Indie Burgh Yarn Crawl again this year on Saturday 11 June. 

There will be a selection of goodies and discounts available, plus a pop-up market and after party at Ocean Terminal. To participate and qualify, a “passport” is issued and can be stamped at each of the stores. Kathy’s Knits will also open on Sunday 12 June for those of you who wish to do more shopping!

Its a fun event with lots of knitting goodies and a party at the end. I hope some of you will be interested in participating individually or as groups.

Come and sample the amazing yarns from Lindsay Roberts, aka The Border Tart, a specialist hand spinner.

Each skein she produces is unique, dyed with glorious natural indigo-laceweight to chunky, in merino and Blue Faced Leicester.

She lives in the village of Chesters, near the English border.

Book Launch at Kathy's Knits

Celtic Cable Shawls by Lucy Hague

Kathy's knits hosted a book launch on the 13th March from 5pm - 7pm for the release of Lucy Hague's new book, Celtic Cable Shawls.

Celtic Cable Shawls is the first collection of shawl patterns from Scottish designer Lucy Hague, and includes 7 patterns, all shawls of varying shape, size and construction. All of the shawls use fingering weight/sock yarn or lace-weight yarn, and they all feature Celtic-influenced designs, worked in a mixture of complex cables and lace.

Knitting Group


Come along to our monthly knitting group at at Kathy’s Knits, on a Wednesday night 6-8pm.

Our knitting group is a monthly social get-together with Kathy for knitters and yarn enthusiasts to have a natter over the needles with some home-kneaded scones and tea. We welcome you to bring your knitting and exchange patterns, share knitting tips and explore new ideas. All levels of knitters are welcome.
